- Sign a written acknowledgement that the person has read and understood the Pastoral Policy Regarding Sexual Abuse of Minors and the Standards of Behavior for Those Working with Minors.
- Undergo a criminal background investigation (subject to the conditions of the Diocese of Joliet), with updates every five years.
- (Employees Only) Submit fingerprints to be sent to the Illiniois State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for clearance, and complete continued education with the Virtus on-line Program.
Holy Family is subject to periodic Ministerial Audits to verify the Parish’s compliance with this Diocesan Policy. The results of the 2018 Diocesan Safe Environment Audit verified the Parish was in compliance with the Policy.
Sexual abuse is a sin and a crime. Victims of sexual abuse, in addition to contacting civil authorities, are asked to come forward in order to receive pastoral assistance. The Church has a responsibility to help victims of sexual abuse and to ensure that offenders are brought to justice. Reports may be made to any pastor or to Diocese of Joliet Victim Assistance Coordinator at (815) 263-6467. Contact DCFS at 1-800-25-ABUSE.
