Most EMHCs will speak of a deepening faith and spirituality because of their assistance in presenting the Body and Blood of Christ to their fellow parishioners. You are scheduled at your convenience and at the masses of your preference.
Eucharistic ministers assist in preparing the vessels for the mass: wine goblets and ciboria before the mass begins and come forward to distribute the consecrated bread and wine during the communion procession. Eucharistic ministers also clean the vessels after the mass has concluded.
Parishioners interested in becoming part of this ministry must have received the sacrament of Confirmation and be a practicing Catholic. All EMHC’s are required to attend a training session before they are scheduled to serve at Mass.
Time Commitment: Attend a training outside of the mass that usually lasts about an hour. Show up 20 minutes before mass starts and assist with sacristan duties after mass ends.
